Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The lively atmosphere is one of the most praised aspects of Cherwell, making it a go-to spot for social gatherings, especially during sports events. The welcoming staff consistently receives positive mentions for their friendly service, enhancing the overall experience. Food quality stands out, particularly during family meals; kids can dine for just £1, a true highlight for parents looking for value. Additionally, the extensive selection of beers and cider, including popular local brews, keeps patrons coming back for more.

Most Disliked

Some visitors express disappointment over limited menu options during peak hours, particularly on busy weekend evenings. The ambiance can get quite noisy, especially when big games are on, which may detract from a more casual dining experience. A few diners mentioned that the space, while clean, shows signs of age that could benefit from a refresh. Others feel that the waiting times can increase during rush hours, which might affect the service speed.

The Cherwell has recently reopened under new membership. It's bright and clean with good beer. Lots of space for groups to watch the sport of their choice, and play pool and darts. Nice space in Banbury.

Overall a super pub, at least in the hands of the current management - certainly a breath of fresh air after the last couple years. Often go here to watch live sports (F1) and I'm glad they still offer that. Drinks are perfectly fine, food is more than adequate, and the staff are just fantastic.

I come to this pub every Friday afternoon with my children and it’s always friendly staff… the manager Hannah is always chatty with us and bar staff Taz and Mal are always joking around and helping entertaining the kids. The food has always been good and service is quick. Staff are happy to change the tv channel so I can watch my cricket and sports that I like. They even split the screens so other customers can watch other sport too. An all round family friendly pub ☺️☺️☺️☺️

Popped in for lunch today with family including 2 young children, food arrived within good time and was very enjoyable, my little and wolfed down his dinner! Garlic bread was cold but the staff were more than happy to get it replaced and did so with a smile on their face. The gentleman that looked after us (jamie) was absolutely brilliant! Very smiley, and happy to help couldn't fault him! I haven't visited this establishment in about 3 years and rarely come into town but will definitely make sure I pop in for lunch next time I'm in the town.
